Office Politics

After a few weeks of working in corporate America, here are some of the things that I have found while working:

- Some people hate their jobs and constantly complain about how they need a vacation or need to retire. These are also the same people who feel that they deserve to be promoted or don’t get enough credit. Just shut up, and suck it up - please.

- Most people here are incredibly nice - surprisingly, but maybe it’s just the company. People are courteous, they open doors for one another, and they grin at strangers.

- Eight hours of mind-numbing work often drives people crazy, which eventually leads to debates over things that can never be settled (eg. politics)

- Friday is the best day of the week, and Mondays are the most dreaded (of course).

- Work hours that occur after lunchtime go by faster.

- I LOVE meetings because of the free lunch that is provided. In fact, I love any form of company gathering because I am essentially getting paid to eat free food.

.. To be continued

Despite its irregularities, I know that I like being here. It honors me to work amongst people who have accomplished this much for themselves. I admire our CEO for sincerely caring for his employees, and I am grateful to this company for how supportive they’ve been of my family and I.

Working here everyday reminds me that I WANT to excel, that I am lucky I get paid well, that I’m not working in retail, and that I’m not stuck with a bad boss.

I am making my way up the ladder
